How many pounds of infill do you need per square foot of grass?

The pile height, texture, size of the area, and density all factors to consider when determining how much infill is needed. As you can see the proper amount of infill is completely dependent on your application. For most residential landscape applications, the safe bet is between 2.5 and 3.0 lbs. of 12/20 infill per square foot. If you’re going to have dog & pets around your new artificial grass installation then you might want to lean towards 3-pounds per square foot. What type of base material do you recommend?
Recommended materials can vary significantly from climate to climate. For example, if you live in an area with heavy rain you’ll want a different material for better drainage. Wet and cold climates will require different materials from hot and dry climate. There is not a limit to the installation area size. However, for installations over 100 sq.ft. we strongly recommend a Certified Installation Professional. Large installations can be very labor-intensive and are not recommended for everyone.
